Ivan Fisher

Ivan was born and raised in the village of Horsham St. Faith, near Norwich. His mother and father are both from Norfolk, their families being farmers and builders respectively. Ivan completed his education in 1996 having studied at both the village school, then moving on to middle school in the next village, finally passing his GCSE’s at Taverham High School.

Upon completion of his exams he considered a career in agriculture like his grandparents, but following a short spell on the farm felt it was not for him.

It was then that a trainee’s position became available at a Norwich funeral directors. He applied, was successful, and after only a short period of time, realised he had found his niche.

Beginning in the company’s workshops, his first two years were spent gaining an insight into the funeral business, after which time he studied for the Funeral Director’s Diploma and successfully passed. The remainder of his time was spent as a funeral director arranging and conducting many, many funerals, and latterly as assistant manager, again still arranging funerals but also being involved in the general running of the office.

For much of his time there he was very happy. However, late in 2003 the business changed ownership and he became very unsettled. Working for the new company made him realise that having his own business where he had the freedom to make his own decisions day to day, and also remain working personally with the clients would give him much greater satisfaction.

Paul Fisher

As a child, Paul grew up in Cheshire and for most of his life has been involved in the funeral profession in some way. His granddad, Gerry Johns, was a qualified funeral director and embalmer, and lived at the funeral home he managed, so from a young age Paul has been aware of and took a keen interest in this type of work.

During his school years, Paul spent time at the funeral home for work experience. Following his A’ Levels, Paul moved to Manchester and tried various jobs but still had a passion for the profession he had grown up with. After 3 years, Paul came to Norwich and worked alongside Ivan when they opened Norton House, Hethersett together.

Judy Fisher

Always supportive of her son, Judy has encouraged Ivan throughout his career, and remains a key part of the business today. Judy is here to make sure that the day to day running of the office is as smooth as possible. From answering the telephone, meeting with families or processing important documentation, Judy sets herself a very high standard to ensure that what she is undertaking for the families is done with the utmost professionalism and compassion.

Jon Goodrum

Jon joined our team as a part time pall bearer in 2008, and in 2009 joined us as a full time staff member. Although not a part of the Fisher family, Jon has become an invaluable asset to the business. Quite often he works ‘behind the scenes’ organising and undertaking mortuary work.  Jon lives with his wife and two children in Old Catton and should you call into one of our offices, Jon will often be available to help.

Pall Bearers

We have a team of full and part time staff who all play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of each funeral we conduct. All of our pall bearers are trained to the highest standard and strive to ensure that the work they undertake is done so with dignity and poise on each and every occasion.
